2009 According to Twitter
We’ve seen what the most popular topics of 2009 were according to Google but what about the Twittering population? The Trending Topics feature gives users an immediate impression of what is being tweeted at that particular time and now Twitter has released a global list of the most popular topics throughout 2009.
It will surprise no-one that Michael Jackson appears top of the list of most Twittered people. Susan Boyle comes in second and Tiger Woods, no doubt as the result of the recent press coverage, appears in eighth place.
Harry Potter tops the list of most Twittered films, with other blockbusters such as Star Trek and recent release Paranormal Activity also makes the top ten.
In news items, Swine Flu was understandably a popular topic, as was the Iran election, with Iran, #iranelection and Tehran all featuring in the list.
