4Ps Marketing – Four Peas, 4 peas or four ps marketing

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009 by Hannah Miller

We have come across a few difficulties and mispronunciations when it comes to our company name and I’m here to clear things up.

On the phone when speaking to clients, our company name can sometimes be heard as four peas or 4 peas marketing. Well as far as I am aware, we certainly don’t sell any peas of any kind, despite the fact we all think it’s important to eat your greens and stay healthy.

We do actually have a strong reason why we are called 4Ps Marketing. Our approach to business is based on the four p’s of the marketing mix.

The four p’s in the marketing mix are:
• Product
• Price
• Place
• Promotion

Using this concept has had many successful results for many different companies and can be used as a guide to increase business. For more information regarding the four p’s, visit Wikipedia and start reading up on the marketing mix.

In summary, we are very proud to be called 4Ps Marketing because we use the methods of the marketing mix and apply them to our search engine marketing strategies. We certainly don’t mind being called 4Ps, four peas, 4 peas or four ps marketing but its important that people know why we are called 4Ps Marketing.

Google Fail

Friday, May 15th, 2009 by Hannah Miller

Google has publicly apologised for the “Crash” that occurred yesterday at around 2.30pm-4.30pm GMT. Google has mentioned that an error occurred and the majority of its traffic was diverted through Asia causing a slowdown. It been named the “Googlefail” because not only was it the popular search engine feature that went down – other features such as Google Mail and Calendar etc became in accessible. Businesses have expressed concern because they have come to rely on Google tremendously and if an “error” such as this can occur well really how safe is Google?

Google Analytics is a tool that many of clients use therefore we have noted as much detail about Googlefail as possible so we can associate the change in our reports.

Googlefail occurred on 15-06-2009 started at roughly 2.30pm GMT although the BBC claims it was around 4.30pm GMT the main problem occurred. By 5pm the majority of users started to experience a faster service again. However Google has mentioned that roughly only 14% of users had this issue.

After reading around on the subject I thought it was quite humorous to find a comment from search engine rival Microsoft Live Search:

“Sympathies to the Google servers. Happens to everyone. But this is why the world needs more than one search engine.” Telegraph 2009

Fair comment to Microsoft, although in Google’s defence the issue was resolved super fast.
