4Ps Marketing Ban Email
Tweet @4PsMarketing #Yes if you agree or #No if you disagree with this post
I must confess, I have gone for an Econsultancy style sensationalist headline like “SEO is Dead” to get your attention. We haven’t actually banned email, but my team and I are planning on going 1 week without email as a test.
Background
Simply put, I think email is an amazing tool and has obviously revolutionised the business world.
The problem
In my opinion, I believe email stops people communicating efficiently and can even prevent them doing their job to their full potential. Email is the easiest thing to hide behind and can result in people going to work 5 days a week and spending 90% of their time emailing each other. I don’t specifically think this a major problem at 4Ps but, like every company in the world, I think we do rely on email a tad too much.
The test
If we get more #Yes replies than #No replies, the marketing team at 4Ps will go 1 week without using email. The team over here is Rachel Kneen, Ellie Steele, Matt Delaforce, Charlotte Wray and myself.
Summary
If we do get a #Yes vote, I will be intrigued to see if this is an absolute disaster or a great success. There is only 1 way to find out. All I hope is that we learn something from it.
