Bing Search Results now to show real time Twitter posts
Since the emergence of Twitter the fascination of real time search has most definitely come to the fore. On the back of which Microsoft’s newly launched search engine Bing announced last week that they will now feature Twitter posts on their results pages.
The decision was taken that initially only a small proportion of Twitter accounts will be indexed. In the announcement of the new development Sean Suchter describes how the selection was made “We picked a few thousand people to start, based primarily on their follower count and volume of tweets.” This may sound like a cautious tactic but there is a wide selection of twitterers including Al Gore and Ryan Seacrest. In order to see the Twitter posts appear in the results searches will need to search for the person’s name in association with Twitter. Why not try a couple for yourself such as ‘Stephen Fry Twitter’ or ‘Al Gore Tweets’
This is definitely an exciting development in the early steps to integrate real time and static search engine results and Bing certainly seems to be leading the way with this latest move.
