News statistics make a huge difference to search marketers and I believe the future of PPC advertising will be shaped a great deal by these news statistics with the market becoming more and more competitive. Take the example of the recent BP oil spill, where BP themselves used PPC adverts as a method of damage control, to limit the amount of exposure news channels create.

Microsoft & SB Nations’s Podium Cafe collaborate on Tour de France Bing maps app

With Wimbledon over and the 2010 World Cup coming to a close in the coming weeks attentions will be turning towards the already underway Tour de France. Running from Saturday July 3rd to Sunday July 25th the 97th Tour de France is made up of 1 prologue and 20 stages that cover a total distance of 3,642 kilometres.  Microsoft have put together a 2010 Tour de France map app for Bing with commentary from one of Podium Cafe’s blog writers, which covers all manner of cycling news and events. Boris Johnson aims for WiFi on London Underground by the 2012 Olympics

The fearless London Mayor Boris Johnson has proposed to blanket London in WiFi above and below ground by the 2012 Olympic Games stating “The truth is that I’m on the side of progress if we possibly can do it. This would mean that tube travellers would not have to forgo Facebook, Twitter, YouTube even Foursquare access when travelling underground, a greater priority than say air conditioning or increased capacity and reliability, with Mr Johnson concurring: . “I think people want the facility of looking at their BlackBerries (on the Tube)”.
