Could the online community have helped Alexander McQueen through his grief?

The fashion world was shattered yesterday, when it was announced that British fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, was found dead in his London home.

The 40 year-old, born Lee McQueen allegedly committed suicide after reporting on the social networking site, ‘Twitter’ that his mother had passed away earlier this month. The tragic news comes on the eve of his mother’s funeral, and a week before he was to reveal his new collection at London Fashion Week.

Only days before his death, he posted updates to his ‘Twitter’ account that were reportedly ‘worrying’ and ‘revealed a troubled mind’ according to Telegraph.co.uk.

Alexander McQueen’s ‘Twitter’ account has now been deleted, but there will always be the question; if more notice was taken of his ‘Twitter’ updates, could he have received the help he needed to survive his grief?

The impact he had on the world can’t be denied, as the tributes have been pouring in through Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites since the news was broken.
