Get your mobile Google Goggles?
We all know the saying that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words‘ – thanks to Google we may still be able to search when words escape us with their advanced image search engine application for Android powered phones.
Google’s Goggle application allows users to search for information by taking a photo of a landmark, building, business card or painting and get information about the image on their phone. For example if you were on a busy high street with a plethora of shops, but could only visit a few of them, theoretically you could just point your phone at the store, Google Goggles will then use your phone’s camera along with GPS & Compass to show you further information on the shop, useful stuff.
It currently works best on, landmarks, books, contact information, artwork, places, wine and logos. With artwork, the application can give you information on the title and name of the painting. It doesn’t work on food, plants cars or animals yet, you can choose to discard the pictures or save them on your phone search history to be recalled at any time
It’s a work in progress, but certainly a step in the right direction on the search evolution ladder. Go to the Android market from your phone and search for “Google Goggles”
