Google has announced the arrival of Google Social Search that will allow users to search for relevant content on social media sites like FriendFeed and Twitter. It will provide users with what the Google blog has described as a ‘public social web of content’ in one place.
Google will now be able to find relevant content from your friends and online connections (Social Circle ) which will be highlighted for you at the bottom of your search results:

As this feature provides personalised search results users will need to be logged into their Google accounts to receive results from their relevant connections.
This feature will provide users with individual search results that are catered to their own social network connections and will provide an increased visibility for niche markets. The content for the Google Social search results will come from already available sources; this is just a way for Google to put all these resources into one place and will allow users to find relevant content from a wide variety of social media sites.
Not only will social media content be displayed at the bottom of all search results when relevant but users will also be able to filter their searches to only show social media results.

For local businesses this feature has increased the importance of targeted social media profiles, as appearing in social results relies upon them appearing relevant for specific searches. It is now more important than ever for businesses to not only join large social media sites like Facebook and LinkedIn but also to join their industry specific sites like Sphinn and Technorati.
4Ps Marketing would also recommend that businesses always specify their locations in social media sites as people will also be connected to them by area. For more information about how your company can make the most Social Media marketing campaigns please contact us .
