Growth of Twitter Continues to Accelerate
The growth of Twitter is like a force of nature, moving from 10 billion Tweets to 15 billion in a matter of months. Whether it is used for online campaigning by politicians, for advertising a product or as a medium for a celebrity to keep in touch with fans, Twitter has proved to be a useful and now, many would claim, essential component of your online strategy.
Check out these statistics from Twitter COO Dick Costolo:
• About 65 million Tweets are sent per day. Per month, this means an estimated 1.96 billion Tweets.
• Twitter sees an average of 135,000 registrations per day.
Is important to remember that just how many of these accounts are unique registrations and how many remain active is uncertain. Nevertheless, it still indicates that people are continuing to realise that Twitter influence is a very valuable commodity and ensures that the growth of Twitter is guaranteed. It was only in March that Tweets reached 10 billion in number and just over a week ago, this increased to 15 billion. How long do you think it will take to reach 20 billion?
If these numbers leave your head spinning, take a look at this handy little Tweet counter and witness the speedy growth of Twitter for yourself.
