Michael Jackson Social Media results
How did you hear about Michael Jackson’s death?? – Poll Results
At 4Ps Marketing we decided to conduct a poll to see which social networking takes prescience over other methods such as word of mouth and newspapers.
The results were quite interesting and as we suspected in the web savvy world we currently live in, social media sites such as facebook and twitter had a great impact.
Here are the results:
Michael Jackson Social Media effects
Total number of voters: 142
The results show “word of mouth” is still the most popular method of communication between friends. In my opinion this was because the time of death (10pm BST) was a time when friends, family and fellow Michael Jackson supporters could still call or speak to each other – should it have been normal working hours might the results have been different?
The pie chart also shows how popular Twitter has become for tweeting the latest news directly among your followers. This poll was posted using Twitter and relied on others retweeting to gather the information.
However this then raises the question; is this poll biased because it was posted to online users only?
Quite simply yes, the poll doesn’t generate accurate data over a large scale of users, but it does demonstrate the most popular methods of social networking within the internet industry.
From the results gathered I would say that generally the most popular method of networking news is Twitter, Facebook, word of mouth and TV. Generally no other means comes close to these four methods.
In conclusion 50% of us use social networking sites to receive up to date information and news. This is just another reason that here at 4Ps Marketing we are always researching the latest forms of social networking and how they can affect businesses in different ways.
This poll has proved the interaction that users have with social networking can have instant results and that it is becoming the first port of call for receiving the latest news. Social media is becoming increasingly important and for many businesses it is an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.
