Ping – Apple’s Social Network For iTunes
Social media is no doubt the top priority any company which is aware of the benefits of Internet will place on. And, in this new age arena of making internet (which was initially intended for a web of documents) a true network of people, Apple is not lagging behind.
Recently, Apple introduced Ping – A social network for music. From a user point of view, it looks more like Twitter for music which can help boost sales on iTunes. Pretty smart!
This means, music artists can be able to market their latest numbers directly to fans who follow them and be much more targeted. It could also go viral faster given the growth rate of iTunes which once peaked at 241% in 2005 according to statistics gathered by Nielsen NetRatings. Although, Apple’s main intention presumably behind the networking site is to improve the sales for iPods, iPhones and iPads, a 160 million iTunes accounts would open up a new market with social networking incorporated.
Ping allows features to follow your friends and find new music you may like as your friend does, you could keep yourself updated with the latest activities of your favourite artist and/or music band. There’s also a feature to listen to a 30 second preview of songs that your friends recommend.
To start using Ping, just download the application on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad!
