SEO Copywriting
SEO Copywriting
Expert copywriting and search engine optimisation (SEO) both have very different roots but within the online world they have evolved into one area called SEO copywriting. Both require a very different set of specialist skills and provide very different challenges. SEO copywriting is a specialist area that requires an expert touch.
4Ps Marketing strives to ensure that all our web copy is not a trade off between SEO and expert copywriting but a merger in which both disciplines support each other in a seamless fashion.
Well written copy is a necessity if your customers are to understand your services or products and want to do business with you. It is essential if your website is to be found and will play a key part in the responses you generate.
Writing well for the web isn’t rocket science but to be successful it must:
Good copy needs thought, objectivity, skill and a critical eye.
Thought
You wouldn’t give a presentation without planning what you were going to say, so why do it with website copy? Think about what you want to achieve, sketch out your ideas, structure the opening, detail and conclusion, and don’t be long winded.
Objectivity
Even skilled writers find writing about themselves the hardest task. Why? Because it’s impossible to be objective about the things you deal with day in, day out. Copy written by people who are ‘close to home’ often fails to hit the mark.
Skill
Your skills are in your business, and as you’re reading this page it’s probably safe to assume that’s not copy writing. Do what you do best and leave the copy writing to someone else.
Critical Eye
If you’re not used to writing copy you may be tempted to think that your first attempt is up there with the literary gods. It won’t be! Proof your work, ask for opinions from those whose judgment you trust, review your copy at least 24 hours after writing and always proof again before you publish or upload.
