Following on from the recent blog post on Social Media Numbers, we take a look at Nielsen Social Media Statistics based on research of users from across 10 countries. Whilst the USA has the largest number of Social Media users, February saw the Italians and Australians spend the longest time on average on social networks both at home and at work. Although the figure for Switzerland only represents time the Swiss spent on social networks at home.
Not surprisingly users spent most of their Social media time on Facebook, followed by Myspace, Twitter and LinkedIn.
We Are Social produced Social Media Statistics looking at the different users of Social Media, represented below is some of the data of the age distribution of users across 19 social networking sites in the USA. These figures reveal that the majority of Social Media users were in the 35 – 44 age range followed by the 45 – 55, 25 – 34 and the 0 – 17 age range.
The most surprising of the Social Media Statistics was that the majority of users in Brazil, China, USA, UK and Russia had more online friends than face to face friends!
