Whilst performing some keyword research recently I found a search term that I hadn’t really thought about before “Adult PPC”. In the last month alone the keyword adult PPC generated 1,900 searches in Google so it’s almost definitely a subject that internet users are searching for. It’s a slightly taboo subject but adult services are a large part of the online world and with that, I thought it’s about time to address it.

The internet is growing and is now widely used by many businesses including those offering adult services. In the past potential customers of adult services might have been reluctant to visit an adult shop, however now the internet is available, customers don’t have the same problems they used too. Within the adult industry the competitiveness is high and the fight for top positions can be difficult to achieve without having professional search engine marketers to help you.

A favourable option that many clients opt for to make their websites visible, is by creating Pay Per Click (PPC) campaigns. PPC campaigns are a form of online marketing that can enhance the visibility of your website to your prospective audience by appearing in the sponsored link section on SERP’s (Search Engine Results Pages). The Campaigns are optimised by selecting and bidding for specific keywords such as adult PPC to attract visitors and convert them into sales etc.

At 4Ps Marketing we have a large range of clients that we manage PPC campaigns for and they are all from completely different genres. We offer PPC services even if the competition is high, we work to achieve the best possible CPC(Cost per click) for all of our clients. So to sum up – we understand the demand for adult PPC management and if you require a quote just type your details into the captcha at the top of the page and we will get in touch.

Google have specific guidelines when Ads may contain adult content. It is important to understand the guidelines and adhere to rules to ensure the ads get maximum exposure. 4Ps Marketing understand these guidelines and would manage the PPC account according to the Adult PPC policies.

Google have just announced that they are now informing webmasters by email, when a "reconsideration request" has been received. Webmasters who apply for a website to be reconsidered for indexing will at least now know if the request has been acted upon.

A webmaster would submit a website for reconsideration if that website had been previously removed from search engine results pages.

It appears to be a generic email that simply informs the webmasters or SEO executive that the submission was received and will be reconsidered. When Google reconsiders a website for submission it doesn’t mean it WILL be re-indexed. Google will check the website against its guidelines and if it passes, it could reappear in search results.

At 4Ps Marketing we haven’t had to resubmit any websites for reconsideration for our clients BUT we have had to do this for;

a) New clients that had their site banned by Google
b) New clients that had their site banned by Google due to bad advice from other SEO agencies

Care & attention is needed when writing a reconsideration & if you do find yourself in this unfortunate position then please contact us for assistance.

However this is great to see that Google are really starting to listen to feedback from fellow SEO enthusiasts & webmasters.

Search Engine Optimisation Strategies; Transactional VS Branding

Search engine optimisation or SEO is a broad topic; there are many ways to gain high organic search engine rankings in Google and other major search engines. However, not all these tactics are the same; there are some differences in strategy, depending on the route a company chooses. SEO is a part of search engine marketing (or SEM) and is used by a variety of businesses throughout the world.
SEO Strategies

Transactional search engine strategies are ideal for selling directly from the search engines. An e-commerce website or sales based company, using this strategy, would aim to be listed in search engine results for keywords that are related to the products or services they sell.

Branding search engine optimisation is a strategy that involves targeting keywords in order to associate a brand with popular search terms. For example, the aim for a company in fashion – who might not necessarily be selling a product – would be to target keywords that related to the fashion industry in order to associate the company brand with those terms.
The Advantages of Transactional SEO Results

There are many advantages to transactional search engine strategies and the main focus is, of course, the ability to sell directly from the search engines. Transactional results are those that have been acquired by a user searching for a specific product or service.

An ecommerce website would greatly benefit from this type of SEO and it is usually the most common route taken by young ecommerce companies. The advantages of this form of SEO are numerous, but the overruling gain is that a user will be searching for exactly what the company is offering. Therefore the traffic from the search engines is extremely targeted, which we all know means more sales.
The Advantages of Branding SEO Results

Again, there are several advantages to brand search engine strategies and the one that usually takes precedence is that having your brand name listed in Google, or any other search engine’s results will achieve great exposure for your company.

This form of SEO is usually used by companies who are not selling a product or service directly and is likely to be popular with companies who want to be related with certain news topics or subject matters. For example, a company who is focusing on creating a greener environment won’t be selling product, but would want to be related to that search term in search engine results.
The reality

The reality is the strategy you use will be self selected by the services you offer. If you offer high end consultancy services to blue chip companies then you will take a branded approach. If you sell large numbers of small items through an e-commerce website you will use a transactional strategy. If you are a large retail brand selling online you are likely to use both.

The key is planning your SEO strategy within the wider SEM strategy and in turn within the wider marketing strategy. Understanding the differences between transactional and branding strategies is essential when assessing the ROI of any SEM strategy.

With the increasingly availability of SEO services, improving your site’s search result ranking has never been easier. However, according to the search engine leader Google, it is always important to choose the right company.

Appearing on its Webmaster Help Centre, Google’s article advises site owners to be cautious of unethical firms when deciding whether to hire an SEO company. The search engine giant states that, ‘deciding to hire an SEO is a big decision that can potentially improve your site and save time, but you can also risk damage to your site and reputation.

So what exactly is SEO? An acronym for search engine optimisation, SEO attempts to increase the amount of traffic to a website by improving its ranking in search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN. SEO companies manage this process by providing services that include reviewing and developing site content, keyword research and offering technical advice.

Although the services offered by SEO firms are clearly beneficial, Google emphasises the importance of selecting an ethical provider. Site owners should make their selection with care and research both the advantages and damage that particular SEO companies could do to your website. Sustainable SEO firms, such as London based 4Ps Marketing, vigilantly follow the Google quality guidelines to focus on the long term benefits for site owners. The practice of some unethical SEO providers can result in the removal of you site from Google listings.

Despite the importance of researching SEO firms, before this is even attempted, Google suggests that it is a good idea for site owners to become familiar with how search engines work. An excellent place to start is to visit the Google Webmaster Guidelines, and a review of this article can be read here; Webmaster guidelines

Google also highlights that SEO can be carried out in-house, without the aid of an optimisation company, by using the free resources that can be found on Google Webmaster Central. However, it is important to remember that SEO is a continuous task and that, to do it properly, it can be time consuming. With this in mind, hiring an SEO company can be extremely helpful, but it is imperative to choose the right one.

So how exactly do you choose an ethical SEO firm? Google stresses the importance of becoming educated consumers, and the best way to do this is to ask questions. Good examples include:

• ‘Can you show me examples of your previous work and share success stories?’
• ‘Do you follow the Google Webmaster Guidelines?’
• ‘Do you offer any online market advice?’

Ethical SEO companies, such as 4Ps Marketing, will always answer yes to the above questions.

According to Google, it is additionally important to be aware of the illicit behaviour practiced by some rouge SEO firms. Avoid companies that send spam emails or claim they can guarantee a ‘number one ranking’. Firms should always make it clear what they intend to do to your website, so avoid secretive companies because manipulative content could result in your site being removed from Google listings.

Although SEO clearly demands that site owners do their research, Google maintains that hiring a SEO company can be beneficial. The message from the search engine seems clear enough: with the possibility of site damage from unethical firms, sustainable SEO is the only way to go!

Search engine company Yahoo! announced today (10/07/2008) that it is launching a customised web search service that will allow third parties an ‘unprecedented level of access to Yahoo! search technology’.

The new ‘Build Your Own Search Service’, abbreviated BOSS, will give external sites the ability to re-rank and control the presentation of search results. Yahoo! has said that BOSS will enable ‘developers to blend Yahoo! Search results from Web, news and image indexes with any data source from across the Web’.

The service is an addition to the search engine provider’s ‘Open Strategy’, and builds upon other recent launches such as SearchMonkey. Yahoo! believes this latest project will help third parties to ‘deliver industry leading results’ without the cost incurred in building ‘Web-scale search experiences’.

In time Yahoo! hope to generate advertising revenue from the new search initiative. The firm is also working with top technological universities, and expects the service to help academics to research search engines in a way that was previously impossible.

Commenting on the launch, chief strategist for Yahoo! Search, Prabhakar Raghavan, has said that "BOSS opens up the playing field for developers and companies to disrupt the search market, become principals in search and build new Web search experiences that offer more choice for users." ‘Build Your Own Search Service’ is expected to shake up the market, possibly challenging the success of other service engines, such as MSN and Google.

A beta version of BOSS is now available as an API.
