Social Media For UK Election

With the enormous pressure on party leaders to lead Britain giving upmost priority to the economic crisis, the real challenge starts only after being elected. However, to be elected, it is important to implement the right strategy and best mix of marketing campaigns.
And now, it is time to cast your vote for the party and/or leader you follow. To know whom to follow, you need to keep yourself informed with the latest from your favourite party/leader. Where once you may have had to rely on Party literature, print media and television, the easiest way to remain up to date is to follow your party or candidate on Twitter and Facebook.

Social media is at the heart of any marketing campaign in the present day and it comes as a surprise to many if this channel is not exploited to the best of its potential. Political Parties in the run to lead the nation are not lagging behind and have made much use of the medium. You can find all the parties on Twitter and Facebook urging their followers to cast their vote for them. Nick Clegg also has a personal Twitter account with 33,740 followers apart from the Liberal Democrats Twitter account. Conservatives now have 30,542 followers, making them the highest followed party contending in the elections followed by Liberal Democrats with 19,689 followers and Labour Party with 16,408 followers. So, if a person is a novice to the surrounding politics and excited to cast his/her first vote and no clue whom to vote for, they may well be influenced by people on Facebook and Twitter. And, as the parties say, every vote is vital! Conservatives have also set up a sponsored link via PPC for keywords like ‘labour party’ that lead the traffic to their website. Conservatives have the highest number of Facebook fans with 86,975 fans followed by Liberal Democrats with 84,804 fans and lagging behind is Labour Party with 39,393 fans.

This only highlights how important online marketing is in today’s world.

In a survey carried out recently, 70% of respondents said all political parties have become more web savvy and used Twitter and Facebook effectively to engage a younger audience and 68% of respondents said they prefer to read newspapers and online news and follow the debates on TV.

It goes with no further explanation that online media and internet marketing is today’s most viable channel to be transparent and interactive to your clients. And, this can be achieved only if the right mix of optimisation is carried out. 4Ps Marketing specialises in this area to provide the best mix of online promotion strategies and implementation.
