Why should brand marketers care about the security of Data?

If you are a brand marketer, data privacy is one of the main things that you should be determined to understand and implement effectively.
Take Scott Brinker from chiefmartec.com as an example, he claims that there’s a perceived tension between conversion rate optimisation and brand impact. It is possible to control conversion rate to a certain degree, but with brand impact, I think there is a relationship between that and permission-based marketing too. In a way, if you haven’t got the permission of your customer or consumer base, then you’re obviously not going to get the brand impact.
