Google experiment with an advertising-free web with the Contributor service.
The EU is making noise over breaking Google’s search business off from the rest of its services in the name of tackling the monopoly.
Tabs may not be as SEO-friendly as we thought, as a chance comment from Google explodes into the revelation that tabs without content showing by default on landing pages may be discounted (as in worth less) by Google’s index. Time to panic? Not really – just pay attention to which of your tabs are showing when users first land on the page, and make sure the juiciest content is the stuff shown first!
After many years of happiness, Firefox has dumped Google as its default search provider in the US in favour of none other than Yahoo! Will this be the beginning of a Yahoo renaissance?
Just to add insult to injury, Yahoo and Microsoft have started courting Apple as the default search provider for Safari browsers is also up for review next year.. but Apple is so far keeping it all hush-hush, so watch this space!
