No, I’m not talking about a new Batman film, but the impending Google algorithm update. Penguin 2.0, announced by Matt Cutts in early March, may lack the gravitas of our favourite caped crusader, but it is still set to be just as dramatic for some website owners. What is particularly important about this update is that it may affect the travel vertical particularly badly.

This role will involve supporting the delivery of an effective acquisition strategy, by engaging with customers, maximising the number of visitors to the website and increasing revenue.

Digital Communications Account Manager

Salary: 20-28k dependant on experience
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, the Digital Comms Account Manager will oversee and grow media relations for existing clients in the Business to Business, Technology and Finance sectors. The role will largely involve leading and delivering on Digital PR strategy for top tier clients as well as growing the client base in those sectors.
The role calls for an independent, driven, creative individual who is results driven and accustomed to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. A high degree of energy, commitment, initiative and enthusiasm is required along with a thirst for knowledge for all things digital.
Responsibilities:
- Completing client work to a high quality and on time
- Lead, develop and execute digital PR strategy with an SEO and Social benefit for top tier clients in the Business to Business, Technology and Finance Sectors
- Grow the Digital PR service through client acquisition
- Build and utilise existing contacts with relevant and influential online press
- Create, manage and distribute content plan aligned to client strategy
- Secure coverage with key press contacts
- Train and demonstrate how to deliver digital PR strategy to other team members
- Monitor content outreach programs implemented by other team members and advise accordingly. Ensure they are creating appropriate content, targeting the appropriate press and managing media in the appropriate manner to reach SEO and social media targets
- Monthly reporting to clients on the effectiveness of campaigns using working knowledge of appropriate measurement tools, for example Brand Watch, Google Analytics and SEO Moz
- Weekly reporting to Digital Communications Manager as well as Account Managers on progress of their clients
- Completing the above activities incorporating the Clients wider marketing and overall business objectives
Skills and Role Requirements:
- Exceptional communication and relationship building skills
- Proven ability securing quality media coverage
- Must have established UK and international media relations with key press in Business and Technology sectors such as The Guardian, Business Week
- Must have previous client account management experience
- Must have previous experience training other team members
- Demonstrable experience of building strong online press relationships including powerful bloggers
- Excellent writing skills
- Understanding of SEO and awareness of PPC
- Good understanding of social media strategy and delivery
- Minimum 2 years experience in public relations
- Proven ability to achieve a positive growth rate for clients and businesses
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

We’re looking for a t-shaped person! What does that mean? Well, we’re looking to find an SEO specialist with a working knowledge of at least one other digital discipline; PPC, digital advertising, social media or digital PR.
Your role is varied and will involve delivery, client management and research & development – backed up with research, considered and applied strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Completing client work to a high quality and on time
- Planning and managing your own time effectively and efficiently
- Liaising with Digital Strategist’s based in London and communicating effectively
- Becoming a trusted & reliable member of the digital delivery team
- Demonstrate an ability to improve one’s learning and, where appropriate, share with colleagues; notably keeping abreast with channel, industry and behavioural developments.
- Taking charge of PPC campaigns from audit and research right through to delivery and analysis using industry-leading methodologies
