Keywords And Synonyms For SEO
Language remains the single most crucial factor when it comes to understanding natural search semantics. Internet being a global phenomenon, has paved way into many avenues which remained unknown earlier.
Thanks to the major search giants in the market that facilitate this easy access to information. But, how do these search engines find the information we seek? Well, like almost all of us know, it is keywords that are matched with the content on the different websites to the query made by a user. Now, is it that simple?
Well, assume a person A is looking for a small cup and enters ‘small cup’ in the search field. Another person B is also looking for a small cup and enters ‘little cup’. The result is completely different for the two terms. However, it cannot be concluded that it is just the keywords that are matched although its influence is well over 50%. We have to consider that there is strong relevance with the synonyms of the keywords.
It is always advised not to stuff your web page with keywords that are being targeted in the process of optimising content onsite. But, be smart with the use of words, use synonyms!
Using appropriate synonyms in your content will create high relevance of words within the topic of content and help balance the keyword density. It is also important to remember that synonyms make most sense with particular relations within the content, and still deliver the meaning intended that supports the keywords. This means that not all the synonyms for a keyword would be right for a particular content. Overall, the result is a quality content both for humans and search engines.
Google, has also confirmed this aspect in one of its blogs by quoting, “However, our measurements show that synonyms affect 70 percent of user searches across the more than 100 languages Google supports.” – The Official Google Blog
